The Australian Poker League Pty Limited ("the APL") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your privacy. We are bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“the Privacy Act”). Where appropriate we will handle personal information relying on the related bodies corporate exemption and the employee exemption in the Privacy Act.
Collection:
We collect personal information when we process individual's Membership Registration Forms when becoming a member with the APL. We may also collect this when individuals communicate with us via the website, by email or when individuals purchase any goods or services. Generally, if appropriate we will tell you why we are collecting personal information when we collect it and how we plan to use it or this will be obvious when we collect the information.
We usually collect personal information such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, emails and financial details such as credit card and/or bank account information. As a general rule we do not collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act). However, if we do it will usually be for the purposes of providing our services and we will seek your consent to collect it.
Use and Disclosure:
We use your information to fulfill administrative functions associated with providing our services to you. We may need to disclose your information to the operators of our franchises or other third parties that are used. Wherever possible, we will deal with information at an un-identified level, rather than at a personal level. We also may share your information with other members of the APL group, including those who are located outside Australia. All members of the APL group handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The APL may disclose your information to service providers, contractors and strategic partners including banks and call centre providers from time to time to help us to provide and market our services to you. If we do this we take all reasonable measures to require these parties to protect your information in the same way we do. We will handle personal information relying on the employee and the related bodies corporate exemptions in the Privacy Act where these exemptions are relevant.

(ii) To analyse and process the information for product development, marketing and research purposes;

You are not required to provide us with any personal information when merely visiting our website. However, sometimes we need to collect information from our website to provide services that you request.
When you visit our website, or download information from it, our Internet Service Provider makes a record of your visit and records the following information: your internet address, your domain name if applicable, the date and time of your visit to the website, the pages you accessed and documents downloaded, the previous website you have visited and the type of browser you are using.
